By keeping in touch with your martial arts students regularly will not only keep your school in your students minds but it show how much you value the business your students give you and how much you care.
Here are some examples of keeping in regular contact with your students:
Well Done/Missed You Postcard
Dear Laura,
This evening I was pleased to see how
close you paid attention in class. Your skills
are really coming along well. Keep up the good work
and you will become one of my black belts Leaders.
Master Jones
Dear Richard,
We have all missed you in class recently.
I know you will become one of my black belts Leaders.
Have your parents call me to set up a private lesson to put you on track for your yellow belt exam.
We are really looking forward to having you back in class.
Well Done Call
“Jon I am just calling to let you know how well you’re doing in your classes and how impressed I am with the effort you put in. I know you will one day become a Black Belt Leader. Please let your parents know what I said ok Great we look forward to seeing you in your next class, bye Jon”
Private Lesson
Conduct a FREE 10 minute private lesson, if it’s for a child ensure a parent is present. You could have a assistant who has had the necessary training, have the focus on one specific area.
Goal Setting Reviews
Hold mini goals setting reviews with your students so you can keep them on track with their progress and motivation.
Progress Reviews
Hold progress reviews with all your students several times per year. If your doing all the teaching too, you can always phone your students. Use this time to praise progress, give feedback and help students set new goals to keep them focused.
Email Your Students
Build a database of all your students so you can keep in regular contact. You can email well done notes, keep them up to date with events and send out e-cards too.
Host Parents/Students Social Events
Use these events to develop rapport with students and parents, and build camaraderie within your school.
Newsletters
Provide a martial arts student newsletter that helps keep students in touch with whats going on, you can list Birthdays, testing success, students of the month etc
