Keep Your Martial Arts Members And Sell Equals Success

On a recent transformational leadership programme I was leading in the Lake District, one of the Directors of a large blue chip company told me a great story I would like to share with you.

There was a martial arts school owner who was getting on a bit and he had been given the privilege of deciding whether he wanted to go to Heaven or Hell before his time was up! He made appointments to visit both.

First up was heaven, he approached the pearly gates and was warmly welcomed by two angels; from there he was taken to meet God. On the way he past lots of people who where friendly and warm. As he waited at the reception, a few people began talking to him asking him what he did and where taking a genuine interest in him! When God arrived he took him on a tour showing the Garden of Eden and other beautiful places. He felt the atmosphere was very relaxed and easy going. God asked him what he thought and whether he would like to book his place Now! The martial arts teacher wanted to visit Hell before making his decision.

So the next day he visited Hell. As he approached he entered via some swish automatic opening doors. As he walked in he was greeted Hi John, how are you, great to have you here, we have arranged a surprise party for you From there he was led into the next room there was lots of people cheering as he walked in, they had press clippings of his school successes and everyone was full of praise and telling John how great he was!

Well John thought this was unbelievable and when he met the Devil, who by the way was very charming, he had made up his mind. The next day he was going to Hell! He thought that Hell must have received some undeserved bad press over the years!

He walked through the gates into Hell, no one was there to greet him, so he made his way to the reception. On his way he passed some people who where at his party the day before. Remember me said John oh yeah was the reply in an uninterested tone. John was a little taken aback! He approached the reception and waited for several minutes before being acknowledged, the Devil will be with you shortly John was no longer made to feel special and important as he had been previously.

The Devil met John to show him to his room John said Whats happened it’s very different from yesterday, it’s not what I thought it was! The Devil replied Well yesterday you where a prospect and now your just a member!!!

The moral of the story:-

“Sell Like Hell But Don’t forget to Keep Your martial arts Members in Heaven!”
