Attendance tracking is an integral part of any martial arts school that wants to ensure high student retention. The longer a student misses classes the less likely they are to come back. So the best method is to deal with any issues early, by following up on students missing from class also shows you genuinely care about there progress.

1. Give all students attendance cards

2. Mark Attendance card boxes trained and not trained.

3. Students get their card out from the not trained box and give to the
instructor to mark their attendance. The instructor then puts these
cards into the trained box.

4.Every Monday & Wednesday go through the untrained box and
contact students missing from class using the DNS call script.
If you are unable to contact the student by phone, send a
postcard and then try and call again the next time.

5.Repeat this process for 4 weeks until the student is back in
class.

6.After 4 weeks remove the students card from the attendance box.

Following an attendance tracking system is integral to your school success and growth. Keep an eye on the following figures.

Active Count – No of Card in the Trained Box at the end of the week

Inactive Count – No of cards/students that have no trained that week

As a rule you should aim to keep your active to within 10% of your total student body for any given week, allowing for holiday periods. Following this process will ensure martial arts teachers stay on the ball with regard to student attendance.
